1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using MedGuide Japan ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). These Terms apply to all users of the App.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download or use the App. Your continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of these Terms and any future updates to them.

These Terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference.

2. App Description

MedGuide Japan is a health information application designed for foreigners and expats living in Japan. The App provides:

• General health guidance across topics including hospital visits, pregnancy, infant care, baby care, mental health, adult health, seasonal diseases, medical Japanese phrases, common Q&A, and insurance information.
• An emergency guidance tool for common medical situations.
• A one-time in-app purchase (MedGuide Pro) that unlocks full access to all content.

The App is intended for informational and educational purposes. It is not a medical service, telemedicine platform, or licensed healthcare provider.

3. Medical Disclaimer

MedGuide Japan does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

All content within the App — including articles, guides, checklists, emergency guidance, Q&A, and all other materials — is provided for general informational purposes only. The content is not intended to replace, substitute, or supplement the advice of a licensed physician, doctor, or other qualified healthcare professional.

You should always:

• Seek the advice of a qualified medical professional for any health questions or concerns you may have.
• Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice based on information you read in this App.
• Call emergency services (119 in Japan) immediately in any emergency situation — do not rely solely on this App during a medical emergency.
• Verify all medical information with a healthcare professional before acting on it.

We make no representations or warranties that any information in the App is accurate, complete, current, or suitable for your specific circumstances. Japan's healthcare system, regulations, costs, and coverage may change at any time.

By using this App, you acknowledge and accept this medical disclaimer in full.

4. License to Use

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use MedGuide Japan on any iOS device that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
• Use the App for commercial purposes without our written consent
• Remove any proprietary notices or labels from the App
• Use the App in any manner that could damage, disable, or overburden our systems

This license does not transfer any ownership rights to you. All rights not expressly granted are reserved by us.

5. In-App Purchases & Refunds

MedGuide Pro is a one-time, non-recurring in-app purchase that unlocks full access to all content within the App.

• Price: ¥1,980 (or equivalent local price as displayed in the App Store)
• Type: Non-consumable, one-time purchase — not a subscription
• Billing: Charged to your Apple ID account at the time of purchase
• Restore: Use "Restore Previous Purchase" in the App to restore on new devices logged into the same Apple ID

Refund Policy: All purchases are processed by Apple's App Store. Refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple through their standard refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.

We reserve the right to modify the price or availability of MedGuide Pro at any time. Price changes do not affect existing purchases.

Free Content: The App provides access to a limited number of articles per section at no cost. No credit card or payment is required to download or use the free tier.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree to use MedGuide Japan only for lawful purposes and in a manner consistent with these Terms. You must not use the App:

• To rely on as a substitute for professional medical care in any way
• To diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition
• In any way that violates applicable Japanese or international law or regulation
• To attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the App or its infrastructure
• To transmit any harmful, threatening, or unlawful content

7. Intellectual Property

All content in MedGuide Japan — including but not limited to text, graphics, icons, article content, UI design, data structures, and the MedGuide Japan name and logo — is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

You may use the content within the App solely for your personal, non-commercial use as permitted by these Terms. You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from the App without our express written permission.

"MedGuide Japan" and the associated logo are our trademarks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.

8. App Availability & Updates

We strive to keep MedGuide Japan available and up to date, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the App.

• We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any part of it at any time without notice.
• We may release updates through the App Store that you will need to install to continue using the App.
• Content in the App reflects general information as of the last update date and may not reflect the most current healthcare regulations, costs, or practices in Japan.
• MedGuide Pro purchasers receive access to future content updates included at no additional cost, subject to the App remaining available on the App Store.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The App and all content are provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.
• We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of viruses.
• We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or reliance on the App, including but not limited to medical decisions made based on App content.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for MedGuide Pro (if applicable).

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability. In such cases, our liability is limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.

10. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall first be attempted to be resolved informally by contacting us. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally within 30 days, it shall be submitted to the competent courts of Japan.

These Terms are also subject to Apple's App Store Terms of Service where applicable.

11. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms at any time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We recommend reviewing these Terms periodically. For material changes, we will notify users through the App or App Store release notes where reasonably practicable.
